Free Entertainment

On these hot summer days, we don't have much to do. School's out, soccer's done, dance has ended, and that leaves a bunch of bored kids. Unfortunately, we're low on funds as well, which rules out most of the fun things people tend to do during the summer. I came up with a list of things to do that are inexpensive, or even better - free. Going to different parks, taking walks, outings in Willow Park Zoo (an entrance fee of $1.00) Going to the dollar store where each kid can pick one thing to buy. But the thing the kids have loved best is driving to the nearby splash pad. It's a free little fountain area to run through at a local public park. It's perfect in the 95 degree weather. We've been going several days a week. It's been a lot of fun!

Fourth of July Fun!

This year we stayed up here in Cache Valley again for the 4th. There's a lot of awesome things to do up here on the holiday, but because of the new baby, me not feeling the best, and Trevor having to work that night, we didn't do as much as we would have liked. We went to the Hyrum city parade. We got there just as it started - we were lucky Chels and Dave saved us spots.

Of course Jordan slept through the whole thing - being only two weeks old.

Trev was able to be there for that part at least.

Instead of staying for free slices of watermelon in the town square, (no, that's not a joke. They seriously do that) we headed home for naptime.

And the girls sat on the porch eating their collection of salt taffy from the parade.

That night we headed out to Chelsea and Dave's place for an awesome barbecue and to watch the fireworks that are lit off from almost directly behind their house. I didn't take many pictures of this like I should have, but here's an awesome pic of Jamison and our friend Jay with matching "orange beards." Of course, Jamison's is made of cheeto dust and creamsicles, but it's funny anyway.

Better Late Than Never!

I know, it's been way too long since I've blogged about anything. But to be fair, I've been a little busy. Which brings me to....

Welcoming our sweet baby Jordan Rey Peterson!

I was induced at 8:00am on June 20th, a Monday. It was a while before our parents came. They got to the hospital around 11am, and hung out with us in labor. I got my epidural around noon (the best administration of the epidural I have ever had!) About 3:00 I asked our parents and Trev's sister Kait to leave the room. It was getting close!
This little guy was definitely the most difficult delivery I've had to date. He was posterior, which meant that I could feel a ton of pressure, stretching, and back pain even with the medication. I had to push a lot more than I had to with the other babies - about 15 contractions with 3 sets of pushing during each contraction. When they got his little head out, they noticed that the cord was wrapped around his neck. They were able to unwrap it pretty quickly, but his little face, hands and legs were quite blue from lack of oxygen. Trevor cut the cord, and the immediately handed him up to me.

Baby Jordan was born at 3:54pm, weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. A record size for my babies - biggest ever! He has lots of fuzzy light brown hair, and big blue eyes just like his brother and sisters!

He came out hungry and already looking for something yummy to eat! He been a great nurser from the first minute I held him!

We had a very nice hospital stay. The older kids stayed at our home with my parents for that time. Trevor stays in the hospital with me and we get to have lots of great bonding time with Baby and each other.

He wasn't a fan of the infant seat when we got him ready to come home.

And Jamison is a very protective, sweet big brother.

We are so happy to have little Jordan in our home! He is so much fun. He's a very calm baby, and doesn't cry much at all. He sleeps A LOT. Like, more than your average newborn. Not sure why. He's three weeks old now, but already beginning to smile at Mommy and Daddy. He's sleeping about 4 hours at a time at night. He is much happier being held than his is lying down or in his bouncer or swing. Such a good baby! We just love him!
